SUMMARY:Online Education Dialogue 2024 “Empowering Higher Education with AI”
DESCRIPTION:In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming various aspects of society\, it is crucial for higher education to stay at the forefront of these changes. In 2023\, the dialogue centered around the theme “Navigating the AI-Driven Digital Transformation of Higher Education\,” bringing together 33 speakers from 14 countries for a series of 9 global dialogues. Through the previous events\, we recognized the AI’s vast yet largely untapped potential in empowering and transforming higher education through improving personalized learning\, enabling efficient management\, enhancing research capabilities\, and facilitating international cooperation. Moreover\, AI can assist higher education institutions in fulfilling their social responsibilities and contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). \n\n\n\nOED 2024 will follow the footprints from previous themes in depth and continue diving into AI-Led Transformation in Higher Education. Our goal is to equip educators and administrators with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the digital transformation driven by AI\, ultimately benefiting learners and society as a whole. By exploring this theme\, we aim to contribute to a wider understanding and capacity building of how AI can be effectively integrated into higher education to enhance quality\, promote inclusiveness\, and create impact. The discussions will foster collaboration\, stimulate innovation\, and provide insights to reshape the future of higher education in an AI-driven era. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\nMarch 21\, 2024\, 12:00-13:15 (London\, GMT+0)\, 13:00-14:15 (Geneva\, GMT+1)\, 20:00-21:15 (Beijing\, GMT+8) \n\n\n\nObjectives \n\n\n\n\nExchanging insights from educational leaders on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Ed Governance\n\n\n\nShowcasing examples of frontline educators using new technologies such as generative AI to empower teaching and learning\n\n\n\nFacilitating dialogues on the renewal of educational ideas and pedagogies: Adapting curriculum and teaching methodologies to support a student-centered teaching model\n\n\n\nPromoting collaboration and international partnerships for knowledge exchange\, joint research\, and cross-cultural learning experiences on a global scale\n\n\n\n\nAudience \n\n\n\n\nAdministrators and decision-makers in higher education institutions\n\n\n\nResearchers and practitioners in the fields of online education and artificial intelligence\n\n\n\nTeachers and educators\n\n\n\nHigher education-related policy makers and industry experts\n\n\n\nStudents and the public interested in the digital transformation of higher education\n\n\n\n\nFormat \n\n\n\nKeynote address and panel discussion featuring 3-4 distinguished speakers \n\n\n\n\nKeynote Address: Each speaker will have 8 minutes to share their insights or practices\n\n\n\nPanel Discussion: A 25-minute interactive session after keynote addresses\n\n\n\n\nOrganizer \n\n\n\n\nOED is organized by Global MOOC and Online Education Alliance\n\n\n\nTsinghua University\n\n\n\nUNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education\n\n\n\nXuetangX\n\n\n\n\nAgenda  \n\n\n\nBeijing(GMT+8)Agenda Items20:00-20:05Moderator Opening20:05-20:10Opening remarks:Peng GangChairman of the Executive Committee\, Global MOOC and Online Education Alliance; Vice President and   Provost\, Tsinghua University20:10-20:18Keynote 1:Abdeljalil   AkkariProfessor and the Director of the Research Group on International Education\, University of Geneva20:18-20:26Keynote   2:Dominik LukešAssistive Technology Officer\,Centre for Teaching and Learning\, University of Oxford20:26-20:34Keynote 3:April WangAssistant Professor\, Department of Computer Science\, ETH Zürich20:34-20:42Keynote 4:Zhang YuAssociate Professor\, Vice Dean\, the Institute of Education\, Tsinghua University20:42-21:10Panel Discussion21:10-21:15Closing

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\n October 17\, 2024\, 8:00-9:00 PM (Beijing\, UTC+8) \n\n\n\nObjectives \n\n\n\n• Exchanging insights from educational leaders on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Ed Governance； \n\n\n\n• Showcasing examples of frontline educators using new technologies such as generative AI to empower teaching and learning； \n\n\n\n•   Facilitating dialogues on the renewal of educational ideas and pedagogies: Adapting curriculum and teaching methodologies to support a student-centered teaching model； \n\n\n\n•   Promoting collaboration and international partnerships for knowledge exchange\, joint research\, and cross-cultural learning experiences on a global scale； \n\n\n\nAudience \n\n\n\n•    Administrators and decision-makers in higher education institutions； \n\n\n\n•    Researchers and practitioners in the fields of online education and artificial intelligence； \n\n\n\n•     Teachers and educators； \n\n\n\n•     Higher education-related policy makers and industry experts； \n\n\n\n•     Students and the public interested in the digital transformation of higher education； \n\n\n\nFormat \n\n\n\nKeynote address and panel discussion featuring 3-4 distinguished speakers \n\n\n\n•    Keynote Address: Each speaker will have 8 minutes to share their insights or practices； \n\n\n\n•    Panel Discussion: A 25-minute interactive session after keynote addresses； \n\n\n\nOrganizer \n\n\n\nOED is organized by Global MOOC and Online Education Alliance\, in collaboration with Tsinghua University\, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education and XuetangX. \n\n\n\nGuest Information \n\n\n\nAbhisek Karmakar \n\n\n\nAssociate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Galsi Mahavidyalaya\, West Bengal\, India \n\n\n\nDr. Karmakar completed his MPhil and PhD at the University of Burdwan.
