His expertise involves human-centred design and evaluation of new technologies and environments for learning. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education. As Academic Lead for the FutureLearn company\, he led the design of its social learning approach. He provides consultancy for institutions worldwide including UNESCO\, UNICEF\, universities and companies. He founded the Innovating Pedagogy report series and is the author of over 300 papers in the areas of educational technology\, learning sciences\, science education\, human-centred design of personal technologies\, artificial intelligence and cognitive science. His recent books are Practical Pedagogy: 40 New Ways to Teach and Learn and Story Machines: How Computers Have Become Creative Writers both published by Routledge\, and An Introduction to Narrative Generators\, published by Oxford University Press. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDanny LiuAssociate Professor\, Educational Innovation TeamOffice of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor\, University of Sydney \n\n\n\nDanny is a molecular biologist by training\, programmer by night\, researcher and academic developer by day\, and educator at heart. A multiple international and national teaching award winner\, he works at the confluence of learning analytics\, student engagement\, educational technology\, and professional development and leadership. He is an Associate Professor in the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Portfolio at the University of Sydney\, where he leads staff across the institution in educational innovation\, blended and online teaching\, and the effective use of learning analytics and artificial intelligence to improve student learning and experience. He co-chairs the University’s AI in Education working group. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHU XiaoyongExecutive Vice Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education andExecutive Vice Dean of the School of Information Technology in Education\, South China Normal University \n\n\n\nProfessor Hu also holds the position of Deputy Dean at the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Basic Education and Informatization. He also serves as the Secretary-General of the Teaching and Instruction Committee of the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Technology Professional Teaching Steering Committee\, Vice Chairman of the Information Technology Education Special Committee of the Chinese Society of Education\, member of the Expert Group for the Research on Regulatory Policies for Extracurricular Training Institutions in China\, expert for the Ministry of Education’s Industry-University Cooperation Collaborative Education Program and Virtual Teaching Research Room Construction Project\, as well as an expert on the Expert Advisory Committee for Education Digitization in Guangdong Province\, among other positions. His research focuses on theories and policies of educational informatization\, educational artificial intelligence\, and innovation in information technology teaching. He has led projects such as the National Social Science Fund of China project “Teacher Portraits and Applications in the Perspective of Artificial Intelligence\,” the Ministry of Education’s Virtual Teaching Research Room for “Research on Intelligent Education Literacy of Teachers\,” and the national-level online teacher education MOOC on “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education.” He has received over 10 national-level awards for basic education teaching achievements and provincial-level awards for educational research achievements and has published over 100 papers and books. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMA YuchunAssociate Professor and Director of Teaching AffairsDepartment of Computer Science and Technology\, Tsinghua University \n\n\n\nShe primarily engages in fundamental algorithm research in the field of integrated circuit design automation\, focusing on areas such as layout planning algorithms\, three-dimensional chip planning and design\, layout planning and design for microprocessor performance optimization\, as well as planning and design for power and delay optimization. She conducted a one-year research visit at the University of California\, Los Angeles\, where she explored three-dimensional chip layout planning and microprocessor system layout planning\, and actively participated in the development of the 3D-MEVA system. In recent years\, she has achieved a series of research accomplishments in the domain of layout planning. She has published over 40 papers (including 9 SCI-indexed and 34 EI-indexed)\, encompassing renowned international academic journals such as IEEE Trans. on CAD\, ACM Trans. on DAES\, and ACM Journal on ETC\, as well as over 10 papers published in top international conferences in the field of design automation (DAC\, ISPD\, ICCAD\, etc.). She has received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on ASIC 2001 and has been nominated for the Best Paper Award at ASPDAC 2010. BlancoAcademic Director\, Center for International Higher Education\, Boston College \n\n\n\nDr. Gerardo Blanco is associate professor of Higher Education\, and academic director of the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College. He is also a Fulbright Specialist\, and advisor for programs and global initiatives at the American Council on Education. His research explores the intersections of quality and internationalization in higher education. An interdisciplinary scholar\, his research has been published in top international journals in the fields of Higher Education and Comparative Education. \n\n\n\nGerardo has held leadership roles in the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES)\, and the Association for the Study of Higher Education’s Council for International Higher Education and serves on several advisory and editorial boards. In 2017\, he received the “Best Research Article Award” from the Comparative & International Education Society’s Higher Education SIG. In 2014 and 2020\, his work received honorable mentions from the same organization. Dr. Blanco is the author (with Catherine Marshall and Gretchen B. Rossman) of Designing Qualitative Research 7th edition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrancois GreyProfessor\, Information Science Institute\, University of Geneva \n\n\n\nFrancois Grey is a physicist with a background in nanotechnology\, and he has a passion for citizen science. He also has extensive experience in science management\, teaching and communication in various countries including the United States\, China\, Japan\, Germany\, Denmark\, and Switzerland. Over the past decade\, he has managed the development of a series of online citizen science projects in a wide range of research fields\, beginning with the launch of LHC@home in 2004 while he was a manager at CERN. \n\n\n\nIn 2009\, Prof. Grey established a partnership for citizen science between CERN\, the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)\, and the University of Geneva\, which is now known as Citizen Cyberlab. As an invited professor at the Centre Universitaire d’Informatique (CUI) of the University of Geneva since 2014\, he coordinates Citizen Cyberlab\, manages the development of technologies for crowdsourced research\, explores the broader impact of citizen science on society\, and promotes public participation in science through hands-on events. He also teaches courses on Open Science and Citizen Science at both the bachelor’s and master’s level. \n\n\n\nSince 2016\, he has been serving as the Director of the Geneva Tsinghua Initiative\, a comprehensive education programme for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. From 2016 to 2018\, he served as the Director of Digital Strategy for the University of Geneva. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWANG QiyunAssociate Professor (Tenured)\, Learning Sciences and Assessment Academic Group\, National Institute of Education (NIE)\, Nanyang Technological University (NTU)\, Singapore \n\n\n\nDr. Wang Qiyun is a tenured Associate Professor of the Academic Group of Learning Science and Assessment (LSA). He obtained his PhD from the University of Twente\, the Netherlands in 2001\, and Master’s and Bachelor degrees at East China Normal University\, Shanghai. He is now the Programme Leader of PhD and Master by Research.His research areas include blended learning\, educational design-based research\, and technology-enhanced learning environment design. He has been actively involved in many educational research projects\, and currently is a PI of the funded research project “Promoting and Monitoring the Cognitive Engagement of Online Students in the Blended Synchronous Learning Environment (2021-2024).He has published more than 30 research articles in SSCI-indexed journals and edited 4 academic books and supervised 2 PhD/EdD graduates. He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Social Media and Interactive Learning Environments and an Associate Editor of International Journal of Continuing Engineering and Life-Long Learning. He is also serving as an editorial board member and a reviewer of several international journals\, and a guest editor for more than 10 special issues in international journals. He has been a conference executive chair and cub-conference chair of many international conferences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nXU LupingAssociate professor\, Vice Dean of Xingjian College\, Tsinghua University \n\n\n\nProf. Luping Xu is the vice dean of Xingjian College and the deputy director of the Center for Nano and Micro Mechanics (CNMM) of Tsinghua University. Prof. Xu received his B.Sc. in physics and Ph.D. in systems biology from Peking University. After Post-Doc research at the Institut National de la Santé Et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) and Université Paris Descartes\, France\, he joined the school of aerospace engineering of Tsinghua University as a faculty member in 2012. The major research interests of Prof. Xu is to study the emergence and dynamics of innovation in biological\, physical\, informational and social systems using interdisciplinary and open science methods. Prof. Xu is deeply motivated in exploring new frontier of education and has contributed to a series of education innovation programs in Tsinghua University\, including the reform of Tsien’s Excellence in Engineering Program (TEEP\, 2012)\, the construction of Open Wisdom Lab (OWL\,2012) and the initiation of Franco-Chinese Open FIESTA program (2015). He has worked in Australia\, France\, Indonesia and Pakistan in various research\, consultancy and policy positions around hydrology and sustainable development. His work has been widely recognized e.g. 2019 China Friendship Award and Great Wall Friendship Award China 2017.
