Following on from last year’s success, RWTH Aachen University (also a member of the Global MOOC Alliance) is once again offering the online compact course “hm4mint-intensiv” to prospective students of engineering programs. Students can take the first-semester module “(Higher) Mathematics 1 there and take the exam before they start their studies.

Mathematics is crucial from the beginning of the engineering degree program, therefore, the module is particularly important for the transition from school to university. Instructors pick up from what the first-year students previously learned at school in mathematics and repeat these skills from a university perspective. The intensive course is designed to take off some of the pressure from the first semester. In addition, the participants can already gain initial experience for their studies.

The course will include online tutorials, Q&A sessions, and lecture videos via RWTH’s virtual learning platforms. This year, there will be an additional option for the Bachelor of Computer Science, so the course and the final exam are recognized for almost every STEM subject at RWTH.

The course starts August 2, 2021, and ends with a final written exam on October 2.
