Dr. REN Shaobo, university council chairman of the Zhejiang University (a member of the Global MOOC Alliance), led a delegation to visit Macao on July 11-13.
On July 12, Dr. Ren met with Mr. Ho lat Seng, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). Mr. Ho commended Zhejiang University for its constant endeavors to cultivate talent for the development of Macao. Dr. Ren said that the University will deepen cooperation with Macao in talent cultivation, research and innovation.
During the meeting with Mr. FU Ziying, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR on July 13, Dr. Ren said that the University will bring into full play its disciplinary assets and participate actively in Macao’s diversified development.
In addition, Zhejiang University and the University of Macau signed the framework agreements on the Joint Research Center for Financial Innovation and the Joint Research Center for Smart Government respectively. Dr. Ren attended the plaque unveiling ceremony.
“Both universities have made fruitful achievements in academic cooperation and faculty and student exchange,” said Dr. Ren. “We look forward to enhanced partnership in the cutting-edge research in financial innovation and smart government, thus promoting the high-quality development of regional higher education, economy and society.”
“The establishment of the two joint research centers will achieve a win-win situation,” said Prof. SONG Yonghua, rector of the University of Macau, expressing the hope that two universities will make greater contributions to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
During the visit to Macao, Dr. Ren also met with representatives of the Macao Alumni Association of Zhejiang University, and visited the Association of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs of Macao and Fujian Clans Association of Macao.
