Peking University (PKU) established in 1898 as the first national comprehensive institution of higher learning ever founded in China. PKU has always sought to be in the vanguard of progress in higher education. In 2013, the first MOOC in mainland China was launched by PKU. To date, PKU has offered more than 200 high-quality online open courses, which have gained recognition and praise from learners at home and abroad. Facing the impact of COVID-19 on education, PKU actively promotes online education. In the spring semester, 2,800 faculty members offered 4,437 courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through live streaming, MOOCs and other forms to more than 40,000 students who were unable to return to the campus. PKU will strongly support the construction of courses and cooperation with all members in the Global MOOC Alliance.
