This Tsinghua University course is a part of the Global Hybrid Classroom (GHL) initiative and is jointly designed and developed by Zhang Jiayin, associate professor of the Department of Leadership and Organization Management, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, and Deng Feng, founder of Northern Light Venture Capital and outstanding visiting professor of Tsinghua University.

Based on China’s most promising cutting-edge technology and business innovation, the course invited business leaders and innovative pragmatic talents to the classroom. Previous guest speakers include Gong Yu, founder of iQiyi; Liu De, co-founder of Xiaomi; Wang Xiaochuan, CEO of Sogou; Yu Minhong, founder of New Oriental Education Group; and Zhou Hongyi, founder of 360 Group.

The course is organized based on the six important aspects of the commercialization of new technologies and the development of technological enterprises:

  • business opportunities and market positioning
  • product positioning
  • design and development
  • strategy and execution
  • venture capital and impact investment
  • corporate organization development and leadership.

The course combines classic and cutting-edge theoretical knowledge which will be delivered through case analysis, guest sharing, and salon discussion. The course helps students understand the core elements and processes of the commercialization of innovative technologies, inspires thinking about the logic of the formation and change of competitive advantages, and cultivates students’ overall vision and comprehensive ability in science and technology entrepreneurship and investment. Through the integration of technology and business, as well as values ​​and business models, the course helps students establish a sense of science and technological innovation to serve the country instead of merely achieving financial gains.

Each session will be offered in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Students will be able to register for each individual session and are welcomed to participate during the live interactive section.
